Needs Direct sunlight

Love this solar fountain. BUT. I have to fill it sometimes twice a day because when the water sprays out of the bowl, it makes the water level lower and it won't work if too low. In addition, it needs direct sun in order to work. If a cloud appears, or it becomes in the shade the fountain stops.

It was working great, until battery case got clogged. I cleaned it out and it worked for about a week and then stopped. I cleaned it again, but then it did not work again. Is there some kind of replacement? It worked for about 1 1/2 months.
