I used to have a Viper 350HV bi-directional system but I bought a new car and decided to go for it. The power reserve of the 5906 is much better. You probably won't drive 1 mile, but maybe 1/2 to 1/3 mile is doable. The battery is not a replaceable AAA battery like the 350HV two-way remote control. This remote control uses a lithium battery that is charged via USB. Battery life is about three weeks on a single charge, and the remote takes about an hour to charge. I was concerned that my key fob would be permanently plugged into a USB charger just like my phone, but that fear proved unfounded. The remote control is based on a small OLED display and is very sleek. It's the Lamborghini of key fobs, that's for sure. I enjoy working with cars and have experience with car alarm systems. These things can get very complex and naughty very quickly with all the wiring. This is probably not the place to learn this craft. Security is layered and cannot be bought.
