I wouldn't consider it safe at all as it intercepts mail. Check out her video (about 23 seconds). In their video, they show the arm stretched horizontally, but you can stretch your arm diagonally down. it is wide open to reach down. Or a photo I took of my own mailbox, with the door wide open, you can see the mail at the bottom, the opening is about 2 inches wide. I haven't tried it, but it seems extremely easy to slide in and reach in with a pair of pliers, a sticky stick of chewing gum, or even a small hand to pick up the letters. The inlet opening could be made narrower as only thinner letters need to get through (small parcels will still be placed in the parcel area) and they can extend the back of the door with a comb metal to make catching the letter more difficult. this is not very well done the door closes unevenly (i.e. closes on the left instead of the right) so the door only holds a magnet. to spray it but the color doesn't match. There was a metal bar/bar in there that fell out. I'm not sure if it had the same functionality but I couldn't figure out where/how to put it back so I ruled it out. It was the same powder color on it. could be used to hang a powder coated mailbox? shows a lack of quality control anyway, but it's heavy (hopefully durable?) and was extremely easy to install, even for a programmer. still makes good business sense to us and we're keeping it, even if it's not very safe.
