Review on BNC Gooseneck Antenna - ABBREE 27MHz - 19.29 Inch, Foldable - Tactical CB Antenna for Midland, Cobra, Uniden Portable Two Way Radio by Douglas Cochrane

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty high growth! best in Antennas

Update 2: Still works - SWR within 1-1.5. but this weight. It's deadly! I wish I had one now without the stupid gooseneck. So! I will only be returning this due to weight issues with my HT. That doesn't mean you still can't use this - I think you could use this for a small base station antenna. It just didn't turn out the way I imagined, I guess. The antenna isn't too bad though - REALLY highly recommend the one without a brick on the flex neck. It's literally almost as heavy as my HT with 9 AA batteries in it -__- heh. Get the HYS whip for $13. You won't regret it - same SWR but you won't rip BNC off your radio lol. If you want it tactical, just get the 28-inch. no gooseneck. Addendum: works fine! But. and here's the kicker. The base of the antenna and the folding part are fairly light. The gooseneck is damn heavy. like pressing the BNC connector on my radio. When I'm not holding it straight I can actually feel the weight pulling it down. It feels much, much lighter without the gooseneck - and doesn't weigh as much on the BNC. I can only return because of the weight. I really wanted a longer antenna but maybe at the expense of my radio - well. It's so hard to find a really good HT antenna that doesn't have small limitations. I was really hoping this would be the end of my search for HT CB antennas. I have a flexible antenna but I don't know what the range is and it's only about 10 inches long. Wanted to be able to fold it up for transport and then lift the foldable part when I need the effort. but not yet. It's like moving too fast will damage my radio's BNC connector. I'll have to take a look at my meter to see how it fares with some old school 5 watt CB radios. But so far on my Uniden PRO401HH HT this thing is cool! The gooseneck is detachable if you don't need extra volume. It's quite heavy - the rubber pad helps keep the BNC connector stable. I wasn't sure how to use the rubber washer at first, but straight ahead. Haven't tried distance testing yet, but from my home I can pick up interstate traffic fairly clearly and at a reasonable distance from their location reports. Maybe 5-6 miles. from my house. I'm only a few hundred yards from the interstate, but it's quite a distance between them. Pretty compact without the gooseneck. Although I like the extra range more from him. Fully extended and I need to set the squelch; and that's good. change changed! For example, how can I fold it up to save some space, albeit not much. Must try without the gooseneck just to see. I'm almost willing to bet the difference is small, but my size will decrease. I don't know if that reduces my range. Maybe, but not much. Would buy again! Maybe next time without the gooseneck. Definitely better range and reception than expected! I would like to see how it works on my mobile device that I have as a base. Probably better than 10 inches. flexible whip I have haha! I'll check the SWR and come back here to report. Everything works very well! Much stronger than this HYS 13 inch. I've gotten to this point. This thing feels isolated on a base of almost useless lol. and it is a genuine Abbere product. I forgot to mention this part; It is real! Don't even buy fake Mirkit or HYS. You'll find yourself in a world of ridiculously high SWR and no reception! You're not doing the charging roll right. I'm pretty sure my other double band fake was filled with epoxy and one wire wasn't even twisted. Solid 10/10 for it, so far I love it!

Added this to my Cobra handheld CB, looks great, has great reception, folds nicely when not in use
