I've been using these for removing flash rust and a bit of residual paint from cast iron parts that I have stripped for repainting. These parts have mostly rough finish from the sand casting process so they are a challenge to small brushes. They have a lot of inside corners and other features that benefit from a small brush on a rotary tool. I have found that these Rocaris brushes have similar life as the brand name brushes that I have bought 2 to a pack. The key is that I use a variable speed tool on the lowest speed. Low speed is adequate for this type of work. If you're impatient and using high speed, then it would be no surprise if the wires shoot out.
