This hand grater produces thin strips of cheese or chocolate about 3/8 inch wide. The handle is slightly angled for a comfortable grip and guides pieces where they're needed with more precision than a traditional fully horizontal hand grater. The tool works well and includes a plastic cover that slides over the surface of the stainless steel grill. This protects the metal from damage when stored in a dish drawer and fingers do not accidentally scratch the sharp plate. I spent a few minutes figuring out how to remove and replace the cover. The trick is to pinch the sides of the top edge together and then slide slightly in any direction. The instructions wouldn't hurt. The grater comes sealed in bubble wrap that needs to be removed with sharp scissors. Be careful. The quality is excellent.
