The motor does not rev up to the required speed for the pump
As already mentioned, the motor has serious difficulties picking up speed. Once it does, it will pump normally but will surely burn out. The second time I used the pump it didn't rotate at all. I heard the engine trying to turn. (My tank is an elevated tank that is gravity fed, albeit slowly). Eventually the motor started to rev and after about 20 seconds it picked up speed and pumped normally. I don't expect this to last long.
