My photos show the finish of the faux leather upholstery after 7 years of very little use. This chair stood in a windowless study and was used from time to time by a small, neat, orderly man. Bought in 2013 and in 2020 the plastic layer on the faux leather started to peel and fall off. The photos show the headrest and armrest, but the seat and floor covers are also starting to fail. These surfaces have been touched but not scratched, scraped or otherwise mechanically damaged. The main cleaning method was simply wiping with a damp cloth. No aggressive cleaners or solvents were used. I think this degradation would have started much earlier if the chair had been exposed to the sun or cleaned with harsh chemicals. It's beautiful and fairly comfortable, but not durable. Good leather upholstery lasts 50 years with careful care. Think carefully before buying this chair. It will be ready for burial sooner than you would like.
