Before that, I had headphones - the old budget Phillips SHP2700 and the new AudioTechnica AR5BT. AudioTechnics had problems with lows, the bass guitar was almost completely lost on them. And Phillips - they are very budgetary, but the sound was not bad, but like through cotton wool. But Sennheiser is a completely different level of sound! So, comparing with what I have, Sennheiser's sound is just crystal clear, smooth, I didn't notice distortions. But there was no WOW effect either. Do not expect some kind of supersonic, a sense of presence (although on some compositions the scene feels good like that - who sits where, so the source also decides), as many write, these are exactly neutral headphones for analytical listening. This is exactly what I was looking for and got what I wanted. I want to separately note that bass guitars, double basses, drums, and indeed the lower range - work out just fine, no hooting, clear sound, I really liked it. The voices are also very good. The top - all sorts of cymbals, bells and others - is also heard clearly and legibly. So these are just good (excellent) smooth-sounding, well-made headphones.
