This is the most frustrating experience I have ever had with an external drive. I was looking for a USB-C drive for my 2018 MacBook Pro that is fast and doesn't require a dongle. The disc looks pretty solid. No questions. I formatted the 4TB version into two 2TB APFS partitions. I then made a full super duper backup on one of the volumes. The backup was slow but understandable for all the data contained in that first backup. Then it went to hell. Sometimes, in most cases, the drive wasn't even recognized. Sometimes it did, but it was incredibly slow. Water polo spins all the time. Even appearing in the Finder can take a few minutes. The same goes for Disk Utility. Absolutely icy speed. I'm now returning this one and getting a second one in the hope that this issue is specific to this drive. I'll post the results when I have them.
