Died two months later Best in Computers & Accessories

I bought this because G-Drive has a good reputation. I bought a protected version in case I should drop it. Well I haven't resigned. Not once. He never flew through the air. When it stopped connecting to my MAC I took it to the local computer store. They tried it on three different computers. It will not connect to any of them. The drive activity light is on, but no computer recognizes the drive. The date for Revane's return has already passed. The guy in the store said he trusted Western…

Pros
  • Solid Type
Cons
  • Interchangeable

This is a really solid and beautiful external hard drive. It seems that it can be plugged in and is 99% waterproof and 99.999% dustproof. It's relatively fast for file transfers on Windows 10. It uses USB 3.0 with a unique USB-C cable on both ends and a USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter. It worked fine for about three months, and then it suddenly disappeared from Windows Explorer without moving or changing the USB port, even though the light on it was on, indicating the device was powered on. I changed…

Big disappointment!

I agree with the last reviewer. This hard drive is unreliable and too slow to be productive. After the drive has been plugged in for a while, my laptop doesn't see anything on it, it's a new MacBook Pro model. It shows up as a device, but when I click on the device nothing shows up on it unless I turn it off completely and start over. It's excruciatingly slow when running, and the combination of the two makes it utterly inefficient and slows down my workflow significantly! I haven't been this…

DIED in a few months - no damage or falls!

Bought, liked it so bought 2 more After only a few months of owning the first one, it died. Will not download! I contacted support and they sent me a link to the $120 software so I could try to get my data. I told them I was shocked, that was their reaction as this drive is basically brand new (no drops, damage or anything other than normal use). They said they could only help me format it and if the AI wanted my data back that would be their best bet. I paid extra for these drives and expected

So far, so good. â Computers and accessories

I added 500 gigs to it once and it was all good. Although it felt quite warm, it wasn't hot. I can see how constantly transferring a lot of data can cause problems for some, as they report. I don't know if it's hot or not but the longer I update. Even with the USB adapter on a Lightning cable, it was fast, way faster than my Spin drive.

Pros
  • Not cheap, but decent
Cons
  • A little shabby

Poor communication - Poor support

I don't usually write reviews let alone bad reviews but I am so frustrated that I have to. As soon as I connected and set up the computer I found that there was a problem that the USB 3 connection was extremely sensitive which means that if you push the computer even lightly the hard drive will turn off. I decided to just deal with it. But I didn't realize how bad it was for the hard drive software and after a while I couldn't eject it without force. And then my files would disappear, so I had…

Incredibly unreliable and slow

This is the most frustrating experience I have ever had with an external drive. I was looking for a USB-C drive for my 2018 MacBook Pro that is fast and doesn't require a dongle. The disc looks pretty solid. No questions. I formatted the 4TB version into two 2TB APFS partitions. I then made a full super duper backup on one of the volumes. The backup was slow but understandable for all the data contained in that first backup. Then it went to hell. Sometimes, in most cases, the drive wasn't even…

I don't usually write reviews let alone bad reviews but I'm so frustrated that I have to. After connecting and setting up the computer, I found that the problem was that the USB 3 connection was extremely sensitive, which means that if you give the computer even a small nudge, the hard drive will spin down. I decided to just deal with it. But I didn't know how much it affected the disk software and after a while I couldn't eject it without forcing it. And then my files would disappear, so I had

Drive looks solid with protective rubber casing. 5-6 days after receiving the drive I plugged it in to back up my files from my MacBook. It works great with a fairly high write speed. After 2 days I plugged it in to try and get the folder. It could not be read and did not show up in Finder. I did a repair through Disk Utility but Disk Utility said it couldn't repair. I turned off my MacBook, disconnected and reconnected the drive and encountered the same problem. It finally showed up in my…
