There was something similar, overheated and eventually died from overheating, really melted from the bottom. With this hub I don't have this problem at all. Even when we have all 4 ports connected to the device and charging, it doesn't overheat or heat up. All devices charge relatively quickly. All we had to do to set it up was plug it in and that was it. I've used this with my laptop to move files from multiple flash drives rather than attaching them individually. This made it much easier and faster.
