Review on Fellowes Powershred Cross Cut Shredder 4605801 by Jay Ngo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Minor work only in office electronics

It was a decent price after discounts. I wouldn't pay full price for it using it now. It does a good job of sanding, "light duty" as described. There are no complaints. But although it has an output of 8 sheets per cut, the motor gets noisy at 3 or 4 sheets. It's rated for 5 minutes of operation before the motor overheats and needs cooling, but you don't need to worry about that too much as the bin isn't big enough to run the shredder continuously for more than 3 minutes. before you have to close it to empty. Also, if you have used 1 or 2 baskets, you must remove the jammed pieces of paper that wrap around the axle at the ends, otherwise the jammed paper will start to push the cutter heads out of alignment and further increase the load on the motor. . If you plan on shredding household documents every year, be prepared to spend as much time cleaning the cutter heads as shredding.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Repair
