Great shredder - lasts as advertised

After the last two Staples (their brand) Cross shredders stopped working for a year we decided to pay more for a brand that is consistently rated as one of the best . This one doesn't disappoint. Just shred it - including those nasty pre-approved credit cards you get in the mail - and it's QUIET! Unbelievable how quiet it is and how quickly it breaks. Compact size and ideal for personal use. I recommend buying Fellowes oil to keep the blades sharp and the machine running. Also a great…

Great brand, does the job

Some people claim this grinder is noisy. It's actually quieter than previous Fellowes I've had. It arrived today and I already have almost 2 big garbage bags full of scraps of paper from cleaning up old files. When it gets hot it will stop right in the middle of the paper in the shredder. I just turn it on and when it cools down it picks up where it left off - of course when it starts it scares me because by then I'd forgotten there was any paper left in it. anything but Fellowes. I tried…

Buy bye! on Shredders

I got this little one for my wife for Christmas (her wish, not mine). She claimed we had to destroy so many documents (if there were any I didn't see) but it was for her home office/workshop so I didn't disagree. And so one day she said she would tear up some papers. I went to work on things around the house on a Saturday when a few hours passed and she came out with a smile on her face. I said you look happy, what happened? She led me into a room to show me 7 bags of shredded paper and 4 empty

Will get stuck if you try to tear 8 sheets.

In my experience with other shredders, it doesn't take as many sheets as advertised without jamming. It even fights heavy spam flyer cards. It does the job of shredding endless credit card offers, home finance deals, and other junk mail I don't want to lose to recycle, but I need to feed papers a few sheets at a time. I gave 5 stars for the safety features as it has overheat protection and will shut off until it cools if it gets stuck, as well as a reverse button to take the paper out if it…

Much quieter than I expected

My old shredder was $20 and I bought it in the 1990's. It was little used but eventually burned down. This shredder is so quiet it amazes me. It's not so quiet here that you can listen to the radio or have a casual conversation without raising your voice, but I'm happy. At work we have access to a grinder that is much, much quieter so don't expect too much from it and remember that it costs less than $100. I don't limit the number of pages or the duration of continuous shredding, so I think it…

Minor work only in office electronics

It was a decent price after discounts. I wouldn't pay full price for it using it now. It does a good job of sanding, "light duty" as described. There are no complaints. But although it has an output of 8 sheets per cut, the motor gets noisy at 3 or 4 sheets. It's rated for 5 minutes of operation before the motor overheats and needs cooling, but you don't need to worry about that too much as the bin isn't big enough to run the shredder continuously for more than 3 minutes. before you have to…
