I added an outdoor daylight receiver to my purchase. That makes it very useful. I also added a tripod. The stand has two built-in bubbles, the center of which attaches the spirit level, turning on self-leveling mode and your set. The three-bar option makes it easy to align with an existing building corner. Shooting high and the 90s from a setup were great back then. I created a patio area on top of the existing slab and corner of the house. Align the foundation in height, bevel under the base and apply the curb shapes on both sides at a 90° angle. The other two sides were existing retaining walls. In daylight the laser was hard to reach at 18ft for a ruler so I switched to a radio which worked great for line and level. This model can be overkill if you only want to hang pictures indoors. But don't limit yourself. The radio also lets you do everything yourself!
