They arrived in perfect condition and were perfect for our black light party for my son's Creatures of the Deep birthday party. We used two 13-watt CFLs in a 10-by-12-foot room and two more 23-watt CFLs in the hallway connected to the room. If you want to light up large objects that react to UV light, like balloons or large paintings (with lots of neon colors), then a 13-watt lamp will do. However, if you want to highlight small objects or write with neon lights, I would go for a higher power. We used a black strip of light next to these CFLs to illuminate the larger image we had painted on the black wall, which had a lot of detail because the bulbs weren't facing any specific wall.
