Update: I tested again after draining the battery to 7.4V. The charger put out 0.5A (500mA). The voltage was still at the lower limit. Upgrading my rating to 5 stars! Original: Works as advertised but charges slightly slower than the original wall charger. The output voltage was measured at 9.23V (compared to 9.68V from the original wall charger). The output current when charging the UV-82 or UV-5R was between 0.36 and 0.45 A (both batteries were discharged to 7.7 V). That said, it's still good because I'll most likely just let it charge overnight and it'll charge fully. till the morning! I wondered if the cable really had stepped up from 5V, which it apparently did. So overall 4 out of 5. If it was outputting a really stable 10V/500mA I'd give it a full 5 starting points, but that was enough and it got the job done.
