I had a plastic Pollack connector on the front of my car for towing a car behind a bus. The lid cracked after a few years of use. I decided to try this one with a metal cap and I'm very happy with the transition. I don't expect this cap to break like a plastic pollack. The Mercedes sports convertible turned its back on me after coming to a stop in the middle of the road. A few seconds later she put the car in reverse and pressed the accelerator. I never had time to engage or signal reverse. She immediately wanted to walk backwards without looking. Well, her car had a big hole in it from the tow truck base plate while I was replacing the new plug. I think she was billed thousands to fix that rubber bumper.
