I never thought I could find such a handy and efficient tool to accurately measure surface water content. I do a lot of manual labor and many times I have been asked to paint after a water damage insurance claim due to all kinds of accidents, hurricanes etc. I come after the first team has started disposing of dehumidifiers, fans and other tools from whatever material is left that will mold or rot. I also want to find out if the area I'm working on has been leaked. In short, it helps me tell how long the wood has been exposed to water and shows the current contents of the wood, allowing me to make an accurate decision about my next and most appropriate step. The accuracy range for a tree is plus or minus two percent, the saturation range of 6 to 60 percent with such a small possibility of deviation is huge. This enables me to make an informed decision and confirms my findings. The building material that worries me the most is drywall and its ability to encourage mold growth. It can help with many other projects, but it's easy to use. I've only used it for one job, but it's very accurate and matches the readings the field team left me for a fraction of the price.
