12ft single shelf on 16" B-pillars is a setup nightmare This is a well done one and solid product, the reason I'm giving it a few stars is the complete lack of design expertise to set it up as a single 12 foot long shelf mounted on studs with a 16 inch center. The product documentation states that this is possible, but the instructions that come with it don't show how difficult it is to achieve load-bearing symmetry with this configuration given the parts of the kit. The template and layer come in handy for marking locations once you figure them out, which took me a few hours of trial and error on grid paper to get them lined up correctly. skipping the 2nd and 9th pins that are 12 feet long so that the two end sections of the 3 foot wide wire shelf are supported at the extreme edges. So you have 1 strut on the first stud, skip the next stud and then put 6 struts in a row on each stud, then skip another stud and then attach it to the last stud. The outer 2 3ft shelf sections should be installed with the brackets facing the center, then the two middle sections can have the brackets on the right and left sides facing out. Heavy objects in large gaps between supports should be avoided. I would consider buying again but I bet the 4/8 foot models are better suited for 16 inch cleats.
