It's a pity to lose the lens cap. It really sucks when he falls off the tram and you can see where he ended up, but there's no way to pick him up. That's how I lost mine. I could see it about 40 feet straight from the cliff edge. What are you going to do? Get them as a spare, that's what! Here is the dilemma I faced after receiving them. I bought them because they had a cable that I could attach to my camera and I would never lose a cap again. In theory it sounded great; in practice rather not. I use multiple lenses and not all have the same cap size. So to use this tether I would have to either attach many different caps to my camera at once (and keep a spare cap in my camera bag for storage) or tie and untie every time I take the lens out. I decided to abandon cable attachment. The lids are stable and well made, so not a bad buy. I'm giving it a 5 star rating because it was my thoughtless use of the tether. Although I don't regret the purchase. I keep additional material in my camera bag. This would be ideal for a person with a single lens or multiple lenses using the same cap size. Before you say I had to buy some that attach to my lens barrel. Yes, I've thought about it. I had some of these a long time ago but the rubber band around the tube broke and I had to cut it off as they fell off the tube in my camera bag. I think that would be the best solution. live and learn
