I don't think I took pictures when I got it out of the box but my product looked exactly like the product page. Requires a 9 volt battery which is not included and detailed instructions. I'm pretty sure I've had a spike finder at some point in my life, but I remember it didn't do much so I guess I threw it away. With this experience, I doubted it but decided to give it a try. And it works! I have drywall in my house that was papered 10 years ago, then stripped and painted. I calibrated it and held it up to the window where I knew the bobby pin should be. And of course he showed it. Then I slowly moved it 16 inches and the next one appeared. It shows the edge and center. I was trying to find a power line but all of my outlets are behind a massive tree so unfortunately I couldn't find them. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for the hard wood he would have picked it up. But where it would be useful I will not trust him to show me all the electrical wiring. If I remove a wall or part of a wall, I will be very careful not to even pick it up. I am very happy. I believe it's a stud finder and it worked much better than the last one I had. It will certainly come in handy and has been added to my toolbox.
