Review on πŸ’Ύ Western Digital WD6400BEVT 640GB Scorpio Blue - 2.5" SATA2 5400rpm Notebook Hard Drive by Joseph Harkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality - data storage

I bought this to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer Extensa 4620 laptop. It is rated for about the same power consumption as the 120G Hitachi it replaced. It's a little quieter when seeking, but a little louder when turning up/down. And it seems to shift up and down a little more than the Hitachi. But I get 5+ times more space for the same battery life, so I have nothing to complain about. Download the imaging tool from the WD website, transfer the old drive to the new one and swap it out. It started exactly as if I had never switched drives. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that the tool didn't show the correct values for the partitions. Since my operating system and installed programs are not expandable and I keep all my data on a separate partition (by taking a backup), I wanted the C: partition to keep almost the same size as before. As I said, although it created the correct custom partition sizes, it reported that it creates standard partitions relative to the original sizes it recommended itself.
