I wanted to use all the ports that are on the back of my iMac. Please note that adding a USB hub will reduce the maximum throughput of each device on the hub, so I think it's best to use all the outputs you provide first, namely 4 USB 3 Type A and 2 USB 3 Type C on my iMac. . Since I don't have many devices that use Type-C plugs yet, I had to buy several adapters, and these "Nimaso" brand adapters got good user reviews and a good price. They have a nylon braid which I like over the standard PVC insulation. I find these guys seem to wear out quicker. I had never heard of Nimaso before, but it turned out to be a Japanese brand, even though the cables are made in China. I would probably buy more products from them in the future.
