I think a lot of the negative reviews are because people don't know what Capiz is and think the top of the tree is made of colored glass or clear plastic should be. The topper is NOT made of glass or plastic. This is CAPISE SHELL. The Capiz shell is a natural product, it is a translucent tropical shell that can be dyed in different colors. So if people complain about the glass not being clear enough or there are spots on the glass, it's because the star is NOT made of glass. Made from KAPIZ. As a natural casing product, Capiz is translucent, NOT TRANSPARENT and may have natural variations and blemishes. I don't think it detracts from the star's beauty. FYI, I bought this because it reminded me of Filipino Christmas passwords, which are also traditionally made from dyed Capiz shells. While not as complex as a password, this star is still beautiful and reminds me of the decorations in my grandmother's house. I've had it for a few years now and it's holding up great, still works well and looks great on my tree.
