Save time, just buy Philips Hue.

Failed to load media. We have Philips Hue in our bedrooms and they work great. Easy to control, hassle-free operation with Alexa. However, they are a bit expensive. We just remodeled our media room and wanted something similar. 16 BR30 bulbs are required and have been viewed as a potential alternative to Hue bulbs with significant savings over Hue bulbs. They were relatively easy to set up using the Smart Life app (we use them with some smart plugs, so we're familiar with them). The problem came when I was trying to set them up to work with Alexa. I tried for hours and couldn't get Alexa to recognize them. This is limited control of the Smart Life app, which isn't very convenient when you need to pick up your phone, open the app, navigate to the device you want, and then adjust the brightness. dull as a shadow. That might be fine for a 2 bulb setup, but with 16 bulbs the room would be too bright for a movie. The final straw was that the bulbs randomly went into reset mode after a few days. In reset mode, the color temperature of the lights is reset to the default value and then flashes (at full brightness) when searching for a connection. Turning the lights on and off sometimes takes the bulbs out of reset mode, but the color temperature is the default rather than a custom setting, meaning you'll have to run the app again to fix the issue. In cases where cycling didn't get the bulbs out of reset mode, you had to set them up from scratch. The attached video shows 1 case where 4 lamps decided to go into reset mode. They only work on 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. My router allows (and is configured to) assign both 2.4GHz and 5GHz to the same SSID. Maybe the lightbulbs don't like that the 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks share the same SSID. I'm not inclined to disconnect and reconfigure other 2.4GHz devices on my network to find out. I came back and traded for Hue. The savings they offer are not worth the inconvenience.
