As many other reviewers have pointed out, this monitor's IPS panel delivers better colors, black levels, and a more consistent image than other similarly priced monitors. I noticed very little (if any) flare from the sides or corners. I'm very picky about this. The build quality of the monitor itself is very good and feels solid, with ample rear inputs. You'll either love or hate the non-removable flap on the back of the monitor that covers the ports. This gives the rear a clean look, but it can be cumbersome to lift repeatedly when you need to insert or remove cables. In general, it doesn't matter to most. That's why I gave this monitor three stars in my rating. Asus quality control. The monitor I received was brand new direct from Revain, but the panel had about five dead pixels clustered in the bottom left corner of the screen. They were all black/purple and also caused an odd lighting effect around the surrounding pixels. I know that with every electrical appliance you buy there should always be a lemon, but if it happens more than twice in a row. It's just poor quality control. It seems that manufacturers of many different brands (be it LG based or Samsung based panels) don't produce high quality panels like they used to do for monitors. This was my THIRD monitor with bad pixels in a row. My first was an Acer IPS which showed three dead pixels scattered around the screen on the 15th day of operation. This was purchased from Micro Center and luckily the return period has not yet expired. The second was another Acer, but 27 inches with a VA panel. This was purchased from Best Buy. While this is a great screen for movies and multimedia content, it also has dead pixels. All were white. I also noticed that the VA panel feels a bit fuzzy and not as sharp up close compared to the IPS panel. And finally this Asus from Revain. I would like to try and order another one from Revain but I had already spent so much time trying other monitors first that by then I needed one asap. As soon as I gave it back to Revane, I found it stolen from Staples of all places. I decided to try my luck a third time with Acer by buying a 27-inch IPS monitor for $120. The price rose to $240 the day after the purchase. So far I haven't had any issues with the monitor, but time will tell if they will.
