Review on Brooks B33 Bicycle Saddle by Kevin Graham

B33 Beautifully Flawed

When I got the B33-Brown bike saddle. I've been contemplating a purchase for some time, high dollar. I opened the box and checked again, but didn't find anything that worried me. That evening I continued to work on the saddle to help with break-in as stated in all of my research and identified as necessary to facilitate break-in (Brooks saddles can take over 200 miles per minute to break in my understanding) heavy saddle. Two days later I took the saddle off the shelf and began rubbing and polishing the saddle to a nice shine. That's when I noticed the chrome was peeling off part of the front coil (photo attached), I was blown away considering the price and quality of the saddle. As I already had the saddle ready I just put it on my bike and found it to be a great saddle and fit me perfectly, something my original bike saddle that came with the bike didn't have. The description of the saddle says stainless steel parts, I assume they just meant rivets, it says the spool structure and bracket are chrome plated as far as I can see. Disappointed with the detachment but as I said this is a great saddle to ride. I only wish it had come off before being treated for replacement. As such, I still recommend the saddle, but also recommend a thorough inspection before treatment. RJ Mitchell
