This carafe keeps drinks hot for longer. Even if I make myself three and a half cups, the last half of the cup is still hot when I get it. There was a handle on the bottom of the carafe that was inserted into Keurig to let him know a Keurig carafe was being used, so part of an intelligent system. The only thing I don't like about it is that there's no good way to thoroughly clean the inside of the liquid path through the lid other than with some sort of pipe cleaner. It's not a big deal as long as you don't put it in dirty dishwater, I just like being able to do more than rinse it. I simply lift the carafe itself and the outer parts of the lid and wipe them off.
