Review on 🚴 CYCPLUS M1: Waterproof ANT+ Wireless GPS Bike Computer with LCD Display and Backlight - Perfect for Tracking Speed and Distance on Your Bicycle by Chris Norman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap, ant+, sync with Strava, long battery life and big screen

Bought a kit: computer, cadence sensor and mounting kit Rode it 200km. It exceeded my expectations with some issues that may be improved in the future in the device firmware or in the XOSS app. Pros: - affordable (compared to more expensive devices) - all my ant+ devices connected with no issues: Cannondale wheel sensor (speed, rebranded Garmin speed sensor), smart wristband Garmin Vivosmart HR heart rate sensor, CYCPLUS cadence sensor - long battery life on all Ant+ and GPS devices are connected - Large screen - Other built-in sensors such as temperature, steep angle, etc. - Auto screen light when it's dark - Auto on/off based on movement - GPS tracking offline and synced to the XOSS app (free) and with Strava - the XOSS app is well maintained and constantly updated - fairly accurate with an Ant+ speed sensor connected, haven't tested accuracy with GPS alone, but I think it's less accurate with GPS - wireless! Cons: - XOSS app: Doesn't turn off auto sleep on phone when trip sync takes long time, background sync is not supported so need to keep screen awake manually. A bit annoying when you want to sync a whole day trip, which can take more than a megabyte to sync and a few minutes to sync. XOSS App: Doesn't remember which device you synced with, you have to select the device model each time and then select it from the list. No problem, it only takes a few seconds. XOSS App: Doesn't show heartbeat history if heartbeat wasn't available for entire ride (but ironically shows it on Strava). never mind Cannot automatically detect your local time, but not daylight saving time. You must set the time zone offset manually. A bit annoying, you have to change the time zone twice a year :-). No adjustment required if you drive only when daylight saving time is active (summer only). - You have to be very careful when recording rides. If you press the "Record" button before the device finds the GPS satellite, most likely your entire ride will not be recorded correctly on the screen. Lost my first trip because of this problem. Mountain bike owners might find the mounting kit a little flimsy for hardcore riding.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
