Amazing picture and speed. If you happen to get one that works.

While it delivers amazing images and speed, there are some questionable questions about the build quality and life expectancy of this monitor. Impressions: The thin bezel design is a plus. Very light and does not interfere with the workplace. 1440p is simply beautiful on this LCD thanks to 350 nits of brightness and color levels. It feels like IPS at times, but then you see the viewing angle color change as you move sideways. Gaming specs are very impressive with a 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. Comes with all cables for each port: DVI, HDMI, VGA, Display Port and 3.5 Audio. The gaming and benchmark tests ran very smoothly. The free sync actually worked pretty well. While Free Sync doesn't actually increase the frame rate, it doesn't guarantee a dramatic drop in frame rate, which prevents screen tearing in games. Vsync and Gsync always drop frames to prevent tearing. So Free Sync is very handy and hopefully it will become the standard. BENEFITS: 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 2560 x 1440 native resolution, Displayport for PC and HDMI for gaming consoles, narrow bezel. Cons: Overall build quality seems a bit small. too fragile and delicate. There is an unsettling feeling that this monitor will burn out within a year. The entry point for all cables protrudes to the rear. Unusual placement and allows for flexing and damage over time. - The cable system does not exist. The cables need to be hidden with zip ties, clearly visible from the front - the OSD buttons are a little tight and the entire LCD shakes when pressed. A single click sometimes causes the selection to jump to where you want it, forcing you back to the correct selection. Navigation is sloppy, and until you figure out which button to press, the screen is blank. The OSD itself is boring, visually dated, and not very informative. The base of the main menu on the screen. The ORANGE/RUSTY/RED color scheme is acceptable at first but then eventually becomes very scary to look at. While gaming, the color of the frame is barely noticeable, but then when you return to your desktop to do normal PC tasks, you suddenly realize you're not 5 years old anymore and should have bought a regular monitor. But the amazing FEATURES and decent COST of this Acer made me buy it in the first place. IMPORTANT KEY CONS: The power adapter gets very hot when playing at 120Hz and 144Hz. So hot I felt warm two feet from the back of my desk. It also transferred heat to a wooden cable wall at my desk and heated another cable next to it. I tested this with a surge protector and then straight into an outlet. Same results every time. HOT! The LCD worked well at 60Hz. No questions. Then tested at 120Hz, again no problem. Then I tested at a frequency of 144 Hz, there are still no problems. Everything used the display port. Then after testing each mode for an hour by playing COD Ghosts and running 3DMark and the Unreal Heaven Engine. The following issues were encountered that many other random users were complaining about. Shimmering horizontal lines and shading. A continuous series of lines will then appear on the desktop, following the movement of the mouse pointer as you click or drag. At this point, depression sets in. At first I thought it was my graphics card overheating, a bad displayport cable, or even a power supply plugged into a surge protector. Did some troubleshooting steps with the following: - Tested on 2 different computers with 2 different graphics cards. (Same result) - Used 2 different Displayports and DVI cables, again on 2 different computers (Same result) - Reinstalled drivers using clean install method. on both computers (same result) - did some research online about the same issue. Anyone who encountered this problem didn't find any solution other than RMA. Very unfortunate GENERAL: For those who were lucky enough to get a working unit and didn't experience the issues mentioned, good luck to you. For those thinking of buying this LCD please know what you are buying and insure the place you received it, pay for return shipping if an RMA is required. If possible at all. DO NOT BUY FROM A THIRD PARTY SELLER ON AMAZON! Make sure the seller has a good returns policy that pays return shipping for you, the buyer, free of charge. Also note the restocking fees. RMAs should not incur restocking fees and should provide a prepaid return label.
