Like a guy I know, these lights may be harsh, but they're definitely not bright. If you're looking for a bulb that can handle some stress but doesn't need a lot of light, this is great. They may be 100 watt bulbs at first, but after an opaque rubberized coating is applied, they don't put out as much light as regular 100 watt bulbs. I use this bulb in a garage door opener that has two bulbs, one in the front and one in the back. The other bulb is a regular 60W. This bulb and this 100w bulb appear to emit the same amount of light with the standard Lift Master covers closed. Together they certainly give enough light to get in and out of the car, get things out of the trunk and the like. However, if you plan on detailing or mechanically tinkering with your car, the light produced is passable but not ideal. As for durability, I've dropped one about 3 feet onto a concrete garage floor without damaging the bulb. .
