It connected my HDMI laptop to a second non-HDMI display and worked satisfactorily. I'm using Windows 10. Had to adjust the properties of the second display in the settings. Getting the mounting screws into the adapter was a little fiddly, but a little perseverance brought about the desired result. Now when I want to connect, I just plug the HDMI adapter into my laptop. Presto! have a second display.
