Despite the fact that most cameras look like rebrands, I liked this model because of the solid base with up/down ratchet, like a microscope. Me and my family were surprised by the quality of the picture. We bought it to look at mini museum specimens we've bought over the years, but ended up looking at coins and fingerprints and anything else we could get our hands on. I'm pretty sure the zoom isn't 1000x, but that doesn't matter given the price. Adjustable LEDs allow you to get the right contrast of the object under the camera. I've found that sometimes the live stream freezes and I have to unplug and plug the USB cable again and don't know where the + and - buttons are used (probably in an app, I'm using Windows 10). The zoom ring is more like a focuser, so you set the distance and then focus with the "Zoom" slider. A bit counter-intuitive compared to claims that it's a microscope as it looks more like a focus ring on a camera lens. Once you get the hang of it, it works great. Note that this is not intended for objects that you would place on slides under a real microscope. Lighting is completely different. This works for subjects that you light from above. In general I am satisfied with the purchase. I waited longer to get this model with a microscope stand compared to models with a basic stand and I think it was worth it.
