Always slept in socks with an extra blanket on the lower leg. I found the long-awaited blanket useful. But I found it was too hard and didn't let me sleep well. It's really just a personal reaction to a weighted blanket, it may be good for some people and not so good for others. I think the perfect gift would be a quilt where you can adjust the weight, maybe adding 5lb layers in a stacked quilt so you can adjust the weight from say 5lbs to 20lbs, but I think technically seen this can be difficult to create . Alternatively, these companies that make these quilts may mimic the fashion industry, where you send someone addresses in multiple sizes to have them choose the perfect one, and send others back. Likewise, they can send three blankets of different weights, choose the one you want and send the rest back.
