Review on πŸ”§ FOXWELL OBD2 Scanner NT726: All System Car Diagnostic Scanner with 8 Services – ABS Bleeding, Oil, EPB, SAS, D-P-F Regen, TPMS, Throttle Reset Code Reader | Android 9.0 Car Diagnostic Scan Tool for All Cars by Tony Trotter

Good scanner, cheaper than Autel Mk808.

I had the opportunity to buy 4 of these testers and Autel is still the best tool if you go for the DS version (about $699). From a pure code extraction perspective, the NT726 is a good deal. It was able to recognize all 47 of my ECUs in my Mercedes W212 and correctly display their hardware IDs, software version, live data and stored codes. Unlike the DS808, it couldn't calibrate, trigger, reset, or encode. Of course, all this is normal, since the tool does not claim the possibility of bidirectional control. For an additional $100, the Autel version of the MK808 gives you 20 more functions/resets/calibrations, but unlike Foxwell, you have to pay a hefty sum every year if you want to keep up with the latest and greatest. This particular tool offers better value for money than the MK808, although it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles (those extra features rarely work on all vehicles anyway). ). It has a smaller screen and slower hardware than the Autel, but it's worth not paying $350 a year for an upgrade as long as you don't rely on it when doing complex coding for your fleet. The screen is too small in my opinion, not great in direct sunlight (or anywhere near it - too much glare) and the speed is on par with the competition. This is not a fast scanner, it took me about 15 minutes to go through all the ECUs in my Mercedes. You might want to consider something faster if you want it for a store. I liked the plot feature, it's fast and useful in certain scenarios. I want you to be able to match control blocks with it, as far as I can tell it connects to whatever inputs you find in the current control block you open. The features seemed to work well, I was able to reset the oil service interval on my machine, it correctly decoded the Assyst shop codes and even offered an oil type change feature which my Autel doesn't have. Overall I'd say it's a great tool for the small shop or hobbyist, the lifetime (we'll see) upgrades make it worth it, and at $100 at Autel it's a reasonable option for the price too.

Pros
  • Diagnostic, test and measurement tools
Cons
  • I won't say anything
