Bought on sale at a regular store for $7 to add to my nerd toolbox. My current SD reader is the old slow USB 2.0 standard, which excels at 20Mbps, and I figured it would be a nice speed boost that would also work with phones and newer devices with USB-C ports. Unfortunately I didn't read the back. Packing until I got home which I photographed for the world to see where it says the SD slots are USB 2.0 speeds. Only the USB-A female connector at the end is MUCH faster (up to 5 gigabytes/s) than PNY's USB 3.1 has this device for sale. -c to USB adapter. And there are other ways to do this that are smaller, cheaper, and probably don't come with a warning that some peripherals aren't recognized by the host device. And a quick search turned up plenty of USB-A 3.0 SD readers for the same $7. what i paid USB-C is currently a bit more expensive, starting at $12. In any case, something that actually works at USB 3 speeds is the only thing that makes sense to buy right now, and USB C can cost a few bucks more for phone compatibility.
