Much better quality than OEM

This activated carbon cabin filter is much better than OEM. I wasn't too surprised by the inferior Toyota factory filter, but I wish they worked better from the factory. The OEM filter was a gauzy fibrous web that caught large particles, but that's about it. I installed in a 2020 4Runner and the pictures show OEM on the left and new on the right. You can clearly see the difference. The 4Runner has only done 10,870 miles and you can see how dirty the factory filter (on the left in the photos) is already. It still works but the quality is so bad that I wanted to remove it. The new one is thicker, with activated carbon, heavier and immediately feels much larger as soon as you pick it up. It is the perfect size for the original and fits perfectly in the cabin air filter slot. Absolutely no complaints about the installation. It literally took maybe 2 minutes and most of the time was spent removing stuff from my glove box. Toyota definitely gets some support in the ease of installation category. Tools are not required. My GM/Cadillac vehicles required removing/lowering the glove box door, pulling out the torx screws and fumbling with the string winding mechanism. It all adds up and it usually becomes a 30 minute job fiddling with everything and putting it all back together. As I said, less than 2 minutes and no tools on 4Runner. Damn nice. My only nitpick complaint isn't with the filter itself, but with the fact that the sealed plastic packaging has already been torn open. In the photo I posted it came out of the box like this. I think it was a return. But does it matter? nope It was the correct filter, new and a quality product. I'm happy with that.
