Best. Buy. Is always! I'm a big solo traveler and I have to tell you this is the best investment I've ever made. One of the hardest things about traveling solo is that you rarely have photos of all these amazing places. Or you find yourself embarrassingly asking strangers to take your picture (and if you're a photography enthusiast like me, you'll probably be disappointed with the way it is done, based on the angles, the lighting, or the overall composition of the shot how the photo was taken). . ). I bought it just before leaving for my trip to the Southwest United States and I was concerned that there would be no one to help me photograph in such remote areas. (Which I was right about!) The remote control snaps onto the base so you don't have to keep track of it separately. In terms of functionality: it has never let me down! I synced the remote to my phone as soon as it arrived and never had to do it again. The remote control has an on/off switch and as soon as I turn it on, it automatically recognizes my phone within a few seconds. It also has excellent battery life: I charged the remote once and it lasted for two whole vacations! As for the devices I've used, I'm using an iPhone Xs with a decent sized case AND a power outlet. I never took both off because the tripod holds up well and I never felt like it might fall out. Pro Tips: (1) Be careful in windy areas. Because the base is small compared to the height of the shaft (fully extended), a gust of wind will blow it all away at once. This happened to me once in the desert and scratched my iPhone a bit. I solved this problem by wrapping my sweatshirt around the base to give it a bit more weight and stability and never had an issue in the wind again. It was the only environment I needed - everything was fine everywhere! (2) Sometimes it takes a second for the image to snap, so hold your pose for a second after pressing the button and don't move too fast.
