A good paper trimmer/cutter is hard to find

A good paper trimmer/cutter is hard to find. This is very good, but it has its own problems. First delivery. It took 3 tries to get one from Revain (thanks to Revain for a great return/exchange policy). When the third also arrived damaged with a broken handle I replaced it with a second which has not yet been returned. The problem is related to the packaging of Revain. You send the goods in the manufacturer's box without additional shipping containers. These crates are not intended to be used as shipping containers - they are not strong enough. The second - accuracy - could be damaged in transit, but all three had an accuracy issue. Now I don't expect a guillotine to be as accurate as a rotary, but the cut is a full 1/8 inch and that's a lot. Third, and I knew this beforehand, I don't like that it doesn't have a grid and only uses the European guide. But after extensive research most other paper cutters that use grids were very inaccurate so this was a compromise. The advantage is that the blade is self-sharpening and can be replaced if necessary. The blade is sharp and thick, unlike some that were paper thin and razor sharp. I especially like that the blade stays in place - doesn't fly up and risk injury. The base is solid, made of wood (probably chipboard). All in all, after looking at ALL the paper cutters - rotary and guillotine - this is one of the best, despite the flaws.

Pros
  • Pile and guillotine cutters
Cons
  • Fade-out
