Installed this last weekend on my boat with only two speakers using OEM cables for testing purposes. First, this head unit is VERY light. Modern electronics, compact and powerful. This unit sounds GREAT out of the box! VERY surprised by its volume and the ease of installation and programming. In this test I didn't try all the functions or the remote control. Offshore with my 5.7 liter Mercruiser engine cruising at 2500rpm we can still hear the sounds with no issues and NOT at max volume. activated and the volume increased, the distortion was very evident. I had to reduce the bass a bit to get rid of distortion and sacrifice sound quality. All in all a good device for the price. I have a 'matching' Pyle 400W/4 channel amp for this unit which is next hooked up along with two other speakers for a 'full effect' test. Not expecting much considering the prices paid for the entire combo, but we'll see what happens. UPDATE: Bought this combo in October 2017. Here it is, February 24, 2018. Just got the boat out of winter storage and launched. Well, what do you know, stereo throw! Won't turn on anymore even after checking all power supplies. I've only towed the boat once since installation, only 2-4 feet of sea per day, sunny. A piece of junk, not worth what I paid for just a day of music. on the water. Mind you, this device will NEVER get wet! I would have called on the warranty if it was still covered, but I cut the speaker wires to length to fit the boat as I didn't want extra wires under the console. Instead, I buy another brand that is more reliable. .what nonsense!
