I bought this device because I started recording lectures for an online course. Since I don't have an assistant, I have to set up the video myself with the remote control. This device rotates and tilts at the same speed, and even a quick push of a button is too crude an adjustment to center either my face or what's on the board. I need something with a fine tune option. Since I'm facing the camera and not behind it, the panning direction is reversed. I would have liked a switch that reverses the pan direction. Difficult to do this smoothly while talking to the camera. Last note. The thumbscrew that secures the camera to the device has two problems. First, the screw is too long. My tripods have an adjustment wheel that presses the camera against the base. This block only has spacers. It wouldn't be too bad, but all the tripods I've had have a "c" clip in the center of the screw that keeps the screw on the tripod when the camera is off. This screw has no lock and just falls to the ground. So you balance the screw with the three washers on top, find the mounting hole under the camera and start carving.
