Well, the design works. But in my opinion, Kensington could have come up with a better design. First, it requires a second pair of hands to assemble. Or do what I did and temporarily glue the round plate and ring to hold them in place while you try to attach the dome. It took some effort to get the dome and lock to engage. And when you open it and remove the lock, the plate, ring and dome fall onto your table. It looks like Kensington came up with a different mechanism (maybe even a suction cup) to hold the assembly in place when you remove the latch. If I could do it again I would just buy a long bike cable with a loop on each end.
