I have an 8TB disk that is filled with large video files and I wanted to move those files to a larger disk (16TB). I used the clone tool/button to copy the drive offline, which didn't work but still gave interesting results: - The clone tool created an 8TB partition on the clone target drive and left the rest unformatted . - There was a bad sector. on the original drive, so the clone just hung (flashing light). It copied the file table, so the cloning seemed to succeed, but each file was a byte of garbage. The clone tool copied the disk signature, which prevented both disks from being shared after cloning. At first I thought the clone had destroyed one of the disks, but after some research I found a problem with the disk signature. The problem can be fixed with Windows Disk Management. After the clone failed, I used the USB connection to copy files with Windows, which worked fine (ignored the bad sector). In the future I will probably not use the clone tool, but only use it as a connection for an external drive.
