Best connection for disk cloning I have used

Cloning a new HDD/SSD with a USB port has proven problematic for me over the years. Many times I've plugged in a new drive, but the cloning program couldn't find it. This device was a pleasant surprise. Always found a new drive so far and the USB 3.0 connection ensures fast transfers. Very happy with this device.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Works great but no connection for 44 pin IDE

Got it today and it works great. I connected, read and formatted a SATA Seagate 500MB drive with no problems. No problem. I have an old 44 pin IDE drive and this device does not support 44 pin IDE drive. The solution seems to be simple with an inexpensive 44-pin female to 40-pin male adapter. I only mention this in case you have the same number of pins on the drive you want to connect. You need an adapter.

Pros
  • Many fit
Cons
  • Useless features

Ideal for cloning an old HDD to a new SSD

Purchased to clone old laptop HDD to new SSD. It worked well in both cases; first on an ASUS laptop cloned to a Samsung EVO 860 SSD, and second time on a 2010 MacBook Pro cloned to a Crucial MX500 SSD. It also helped me access data on a 2TB Seagate GoFlex Desk for Mac that was unavailable after the docking port stopped working. I had to change the casing of the hard drives, but now I can access the data. In short, I am satisfied with the purchase. He looks good. So far I've only used the SATA…

Makes work easier: computer accessories and peripherals

Bought because we had a bunch of "old" ide drives around our house and couldn't remember what was on them. Didn't want to just destroy them without seeing what was on the disks. Since I don't have any "old" systems with the required interface, I bought this one to see what was on the drives. It works without any problems and I moved all the files I wanted to keep (like photos, music, old recordings, etc.) without any problems. Highly recommended if you have old drives but can't see what's on…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Annoying

This review is for the Cable PL06 model. Stay away. I wanted to use it to connect drives to a computer, not for offline cloning. It doesn't matter what drives I've tried, SATA or IDE, 2.5" or 3.5", with or without AC power. on multiple PCs running everything from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The LEDs were on so the device was not fully DOA, however none of the PCs recognized the device at all. The user manual is incomplete (e.g. it only contains diagrams for connecting a SATA drive to a computer…

  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Not bad in general, but...

Works as advertised, reliable docking station.

I have a lot of these types ranging in price from cheap $10 CD readers to $80 dock style charging stations. What attracted me to this device is its small size and solid appearance. Pros: - One-touch cloning works and requires no USB cable, just power. - You can use this device for both disc reading and cloning. - Its small size, durable construction and easy operation. - It works with solid state and hard drives. - High file transfer speed when reading connected drives on the computer. - So far

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Hard to say

I have an 8TB disk that is filled with large video files and I wanted to move those files to a larger disk (16TB). I used the clone tool/button to copy the drive offline, which didn't work but still gave interesting results: - The clone tool created an 8TB partition on the clone target drive and left the rest unformatted . - There was a bad sector. on the original drive, so the clone just hung (flashing light). It copied the file table, so the cloning seemed to succeed, but each file was a byte

Works once you figure it all out

I bought the device to try and recover files from 3 old PC hard drives (1 SATA drive, 2 44 pin IDE drives). The good news is that it really works. Connecting a SATA drive and extracting files was very easy with my Mac. I ran into problems trying to connect my IDE drives to this adapter. The adapter has a 40-pin IDE drive connector on the side of the device, which means that most older IDE drives will not fit this connector. So you need to use a 4-pin power cable adapter to connect to a 44-pin…

Missing drive support, file integrity

I was glad to get this as I was upgrading some hard drives from some computers and wanted an interface that could work with my old archive drives. That seemed like spot on and I was happy to see the cloning feature for my MacBook Pro and Windows memory upgrades. Unfortunately, the clone function is problematic depending on the hard drive. At first I was scared as I thought the cloning process would be completed within 30-60 minutes, but I realized there were issues with corrupt files even…
