Review on Dorman EGR Valve 904-219 for Ford Models - Optimize Engine Performance by Terry Napoleon

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Relatively short life of this Dorman EGR valve for 6.0L Ford diesel engine

At 55,000 the EGR valve failed. Found on Advance Auto for about 1/3 the cost of a Motorcraft unit. I installed it myself and everything was great until a year later, about 70,000 miles later, the Dorman EGR valve failed. I ordered a new one from Revain and it was fitted at the diesel engine shop. I took the old one back to Advance with the receipt and they gave me my money back because of the Dorman lifetime warranty. Now a year later a second Dorman EGR valve has failed at 92,000 miles. I bought a new valve from AutoZone, this time from the BVD brand, also with a lifetime guarantee. So I'm not a fan of Dorman products. It seems like the EGR valve should last over 20,000 miles and over a year. The original Ford unit lasted 55,000 miles and 13 years. If you can treat this as annual maintenance and replace it yourself, it might be worth it instead of buying Motorcraft's $275 EGR valve. But still annoying. Now I need to figure out how to get a lifetime warranty on the faulty unit I bought from Revain.
