Easy to installVery small compared to traditional palm sized interconnected devices. We have one in every bedroom, hallway, living room and basement. After a few seconds, they all turn off. A good and loud sound will definitely wake you up if you have it in your room or just outside. And since they all turn off, you can hear them all over the house. Battery operated so no wiring required. I do not recommend installing in the kitchen or garage. We have one right outside our inside garage door and around the corner from our kitchen. Ordinary kitchen or car smoke can cause them, and then the whole house honks loudly. The only way to turn them all off in a non-emergency situation is to remove the battery from the one that failed first. This can take a while if it's on the ceiling. Waking up to the smell of bacon is great, but waking up to noises that make the whole house squeak because you like crispy bacon isn't cool, according to my family. So make sure you follow the spacing recommended in the installation guide to place it far enough away from the stove and garage so it will still light in an emergency, but not when you're doing everyday chores.
