1) I am a weight lifter. i have long arms I suffer from fairly constant shoulder problems due to my heavy lifting shenanigans. 2) I have fairly large legs with little fat. I am tormented by very, very thin legs and of course the wrong posture when swimming. However, this kickboard is a welcome solution to both of these problems. Using a traditional plank usually aggravates 1) shoulder problems by increasing the stress on the shoulders and 2) poor posture in people with sagging legs as they raise their chest and therefore lower their legs. The fact that this board is below the surface mitigates those issues a bit. It's not perfect, but it helps a lot. The deep position also allows for use when doing a sidestroke - this prevents the lead hand from hanging down, which is a common mistake. Normal use also allows you to focus on a streamlined position by bringing your hands together. Holding a traditional board this way is really unstable and uncomfortable, which is why you often end up using a wider grip that increases resistance and reinforces bad positioning. in. Overall, however, this kickboard is a much better choice for almost everyone. Highly recommended for beginners like me.
