Review on Driver-Free Mini USB 2.0 Microphone for Laptop/Desktop PCS - Optimized for Skype/Voice Recognition Software - Audio Receiver Adapter for MSN PC Notebook by Kyle Ahmed

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The microphone works perfectly, BUT only after you have set the volume in the microphone properties from -0- to 100

The device is permanently installed in the USB port. At first glance, the sound is very weak and you want to return it or just throw it away in disgust. However, the device's microphone level setting is set to -0- (zero) by default and must be set to 100 for it to work properly. The microphone works fine but I give the product a 4 star rating because I had to manually set the audio level to 100. You might think that the default audio level is 100. Anyway, assuming Windows 10, go to your control panel, scroll to the "Hardware and Sound" group and select "View devices and printers". You should see your computer and other devices listed there, as well as the USB PnP audio device icon (see photo). If not, the microphone is not working or the USB port is defective. Otherwise, right-click the USB PnP icon and the "Sound” pop-up window will appear (see photo). Ignore the Playback tab and select Recording. The USB PnP icon should appear (see photo). Double click on the microphone and the Microphone Properties menu will appear. Switch to the "Layers" tab. You should see that the default is null (I wonder why). In any case, increase the level to 100 (see photo). Select OK until you exit the menu. Hope that helps.
