Review on Keep Your Beverages Hot On The Go With Hotjo'S Ocean Travel Mug - 18 Oz. by Amanda Hall

Very stable on a desk top. Bigger than most mugs. No plastic flavor.

This is a good mug for use at a desk. The base of the mug is about as wide as the mug is tall. The rubber pad on the bottom of the mug adds to stability. The mug will tip, but it takes a significant bump to tip it over. The mug is quite large, and is well suited to people who like to have a stable mug of water or ice or coffee or tea handy. Like others have pointed out, it is not insulated, so it's not a mug for those who like to keep their beverage hot or cold. If you drink your beverages as they cool to room temperature, this will work fine.I have not used the plastic lid, and probably won't use it. I don't like the flavor that plastic imparts to hot beverages. The glazed ceramic imparts no flavor. The mug is about the size of a pint beer tankard, and holding the mug by its handle feels like I'm holding a tankard. I usually grip the mug by the waist near the mouth of the mug. That's a good comfortable way to grip it.Color of the ocean blue mug is a lighter than it appears in the pictures. It's a pleasant medium blue. I chose this relatively dark color because coffee and tea will leave a brown residue on almost any surface, so having a darker color hides hard to clean discoloration from beverages.I do not know why it is called a travel mug. It won't fit in the cup holders of cars. You could rest it on a seat, but why risk spills on upholstery? It would be better on large boats than most mugs provided that the sea is calm or nearly calm. The mug is big enough to serve as a "bowl" for foods like oatmeal, yogurt, or stew.
